Error description

  • 1) When choosing the SETUP option from panel ETI$MAIN, the VSAM
control file is opened for input/output access. If the user
lacks the authority to update this control file an abend could
occur. SETUP panel processing will now only attempt to open the
control file for output when a change is detected. Users that
lack the proper update authority will now be allowed to view the
SETUP panels without error. If an update attempt is made by this
type of user, the following error message will be displayed:
    CTC904E: The specified dataset could
    not be opened for I/O

    2) STEP 5 of the Table Editor User's Guide Installation
indicates the following changes are required:
Change: &CTCLEVEL..SETIMENU ) UNCOND STACK to
        &CTCLEVEL..SCTCMENU ) UNCOND STACK

               &CTCLEVEL..SETIPENU ) UNCOND STACK to
               &CTCLEVEL..SCTCPENU ) UNCOND STACK

               &CTCLEVEL..SETILOAD ) UNCOND STACK to
               &CTCLEVEL..SCTCLOAD ) UNCOND STACK
This will be changed in ETICLIST.

Local fix

  • 1) Make sure TSO user has appropriate RACF security for the
    Control File.
    2) Edit ETICLIST and make the changes for now.
