APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • This APAR improves the CPU time in the HASH Check process of
HD Pointer Checker when it is invoked from the image copy
products, IMS High Performance Image Copy Version 3
(5655-K96 FMID=H1J0310) or IMS Image Copy Extensions Version 2
      (5655-E10 FMID=H1J0210).
    .
Note that the CPU time is not reduced by this APAR when the HD
Pointer Checker runs separated from the image copy products.
    .
    Warning:
HD Pointer Checker formally does not support IMS Partition DB
(5697-A06,5697-D85) or any other products with an equivalent
function. Previous to this APAR, hoever, these databases were
processed. This APAR deletes this process to improve CPU
       time.
Partition DB will therefore be rejected with an error message
in the early steps of the HD Pointer Checker process.

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
    1. This APAR improves the CPU time in the HASH Check process of
HD Pointer Checker when it is invoked from the image copy
products, IMS High Performance Image Copy Version 3
    (5655-K96 FMID=H1J0310) or
IMS Image Copy extensions Version 2(5655-E10 FMID=H1J0210).

The CPU time reduction has effect on HDAM, HIDAM, HISAM, primary
index of HIDAM, secondary index, PHDAM, and PHIDAM databases.

Note that the CPU time is not reduced
when the HD Pointer Checker runs separated from the image copy
    products.

    Warnings:*****************************************************
HD Pointer Checker formally does not support
IMS Partition DB (5697-A06,5697-D85) or any other products
    with an equivalent function.
Previous to this APAR, however, these databases were processed.
This APAR deletes this process to improve CPU time.
Partition DB will therefore be rejected with FABP4026E message
and RC=08 in the early steps of the HD Pointer Checker process.

HALDB is not the Partition DB.
Even after this APAR, you can still process HALDB the same as
    before.
    ***************************************************************

If FABP4026E appears with RC=08 in the single-step HASH check
option, the image copy is taken without the HASH Checking.
For supressing FABP4026E and RC=08, specify HASH=NO to
the Partition DB in the ICEIN control statement.

If FABP4026E appears with RC=08 in the multiple-step HASH
check option, DBDEFCTL is not created.
Remove the DATABASE statement of Partition DB from
    the PROCCTL data set.

    2. The following changes are introduced to the reports.

-Created date of the primary and secondary index database
data set is printed in the following reports:
      - "SCAN OF HISAM DATABASE REPORT"
      - "SCAN OF INDEX DATABASE REPORT"
      - "HD POINTER CHECKER SUMMARY"

      - "HD ANALYSIS REPORT"

    - Previous of this APAR, CHK-DATE/CHK-TIME fields in the
"HD POINTER CHECKER SUMMARY" report are printed only for the
database data sets having the target segment of logical pointer
or the indexed segment. The CHK-DATE/CHK-TIME fields are now
printed for all of the scanned database data sets.

    - FABP4006W message is printed in "PROCCTL STATEMENT REPORT",
if secondary index databases are specified but the indexed
database is not specifies for the HASH checking.

    APPENDIX1.13.1.3 Messages
    --------------------------------------------------------------
    Following messages are added

    |FABP4026E PARTITION DB CANNOT BE PROCESSED
    |
    |Explanation: HD Pointer Checker does not support IMS Partition
    | DB(5697-A06,5697-D85) or any other products
    | with an equivalent function.
    |
    |System Action: Pointer validation is taken for the Partition
    | DB. Return Code 08 is returned.
    |Programmer Response: Change the PROCCTL or ICEIN statement not
    | to invoke the HASH check option.
    | - Specify HDPC=N to the Partition DB in the ICEIN control
    | statement for the single-step HASH check option.
    | or
    | - Remove the database statement of the Partition DB from
    | the PROCCTL data set for the multiple-step HASH check
    | option.
    |Problem Determination: None.
