    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR fixes following problems: *
    * - HPIC CIC function fails with *
    *                         DFS2815A and RC=08, if the access    *
    * method of the index DB is KSDS. *
    *                       - HPIC IC function fails with DSP0110I *
    * and RC=08, if the VIC option is *
    * specified and SYSPRINT DD is not *
    * defined in run JCL. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
    This APAR provides the fix for following two problems:
    - HPIC CIC function fails with DFS2815A message and RC=08, if
      the access method of the index DB is KSDS.
    - HPIC IC function fails with DSP0110I message and RC=08, if
      the VIC option is specified and SYSPRINT DD is not defined in
      run JCL.

Problem conclusion

  • The module FABJUIC1 has been modified to select the DD for the
    DBRC messages depending on the existence of the DD.
    The order of selecting DD is following:
      1. ICEDLST DD
      2. SYSPRINT DD
    If neither of ICEDLST nor SYSPRINT DD is defined in the HPIC JOB
    step, the HPIC dynamically allocates DUMMY data set for the DBRC
    process of the VIC process.

    The module FABJDPSN has been modified to continue the image copy
    process for the KSDS index DB of the CIC process.

    When VIC=Y is specified, a physical image copy data set is not
    created and the virtual image copy is registered into the DBRC
    as the User Image Copy by the NOTIFY.UIC command.
    When VIC=N (this is default) is specified, a physical image copy
    data set is created and information message FABJ0180I is issued.

    IMS High Performance Image Copy for z/OS Version 3 Release 1
    User's Guide: Document Number: SC18-7617-00  ( SC18761700 )
    should be changed as follows:
    ==============================================================

    Appendix A. Return Codes, Abend Codes, and Messages
    MSG FABJ0180I added.

    | FABJ0180I INDEX DB IC MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RECOVER, BECAUSE OF
    | THE CIC PROCESS
    |
    | Explanation: HPIC creates a image copy data set for KSDS index
    | DB. But it may not be able to use recovery as input image copy
    | data set. If you use it, Index database can not recover
    | correctly.
    |
    | System Action: FABJDPSn continues processing.
    |
    | Programmer Response: None.
