Error description
ABENDS0C4-04 at offset X'24EA' in FABJDPS8. The error occurs when HPIC tries to close the image copy data set, that is allocated in multi volumes, because the HPIC uses JFCBEXAD as an address of the extended JFCB. When the JFCB is taken above the 16 MB line, SVA is set to JFCBEXAD.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS High Performance Image Copy * * for z/OS version 3 users (FMID=H1J0310) * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR fixes following problems: * * - HPIC IC/CRC function fails with ABEND * * S0C4 ( ABEND0C4 ), if the image copy * * data set is multi volumes. * * - HPIC RCV function fails with RC=16 or * * ABEND S0C4 ( ABEND0C4 ), if the * * recovered DB is multi volume OSAM * * and the database records are stored * * into a part of the volumes. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** HPIC has following two troubles: - HPIC IC/CRC function fails with ABEND S0C4 ( ABEND0C4 ), if the input image copy data set is multi volumes. - HPIC RCV function fails with RC=16 or ABEND S0C4 ( ABEND0C4 ), if the recovered DB is multi volume OSAM and the database records are stored into a part of the volumes. Because HPIC uses JFCBEXAD as an address of extended JFCB when the JFCB is taken above 16 MB line. In this case HPIC should use SVA as token for getting JFCBEXAD and get correct extended JFCB area.
Problem conclusion
The modules FABJCRC1 FABJDOPN FABJFIG1 FABJXLIM have been modified to use SVA as extend JFCB TOKEN for getting JFCBEXAD. IMS Image Copy Extensions for z/OS Version 2 Release 1 User's Guide (Document Number: SC18-7617-00) should be changed as follows: ============================================================== Appendix A. Return Codes, Abend Codes, and Messages MSG FABJ0178E, FABJ0179E added. | FABJ0178E mac-name ERROR item=item-name RC=nnnnnnnn REASON= | nnnnnnnn | | Explanation: mac-name macro for getting item-name item is | failed. | System Action: FABJMAIN stops processing with a return code | of 16. | Programmer Response: Contact to IBM. | FABJ0179E EXTENT LIMIT CHECK PROCESS FAIL RC=nnnnnnnn | | Explanation: Incorrect DD name is passed to EXTENT limit check | process. | System Action: FABJMAIN stops processing with a return code | of 16. | Programmer Response: Check and correct the DD name of | recovered DB. Rerun the job.
