THIS APAR WILL REPORT AND FIX VARIOUS PROBLEMS FOUND DURING THE BETA TEST OF R310 OF DATABASE CONTROL SUITE.

The LIU Function panels are not initialized with the DBDLIB, PSBLIB and ACBLIB specified during CS SETUP. 2.) History data sets must be VSAM. If an existing non-VSAM data set name is entered as the History data set on panel IDL$UTIE, the user should be prompted to enter a new name. 3.) If the Unload Data Set Option, 'Use GDGs' is set to 'N' the other Unload Options should be left blank. 4.) The user cannot scroll and select DBDs from multiple screens on DBD Collection panel IDLSMAIR. 5.) The Collect process tries to run CHANGE.DB SHARELVL commands on active DBDs. This is not allowed. 6.) The Collect process does not check the ACBLIB for DBD members when the 'Check ACBLIB' option is selected. 7.) Residual DBD data from prior collections may be included in the Collection Table. 8.) HIDAM DBDs with non-INDEX LCHILD statements preceding the PRIMARY INDEX LCHILD statement are not handled correctly during Collection. The PRIMARY INDEX is set to a SECONDARY. 9.) A missing EOF in the temporary Collection output data set can cause READ/WRITE errors that result in an ABEND001. 10.) Changes are needed to support the RECOVGRP option of the DBDSGRP commands. 11.) Changes are needed to resolve problems with RECON record LRECLS greater than 32760. A REPRO of the RECONS fails to a PS (Physical Sequential) file. 12.) Users need a prompt to select only one CSID on start panel IDLP92 and only one DBDSGRP on Collect panels IDLSMAIP and IDLSMAIQ. 13.) CS R310 users with OS/390 R210 or Z/OS releases lower than 1.3 receive ICF Catalog errors for an invalid field during and internal listc command. CS R220 users with Z/OS releases lower than 1.3 or OS/390 may also receive the same errors.
Problem conclusion
MODIFICATIONS MADE TO CORRECT ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS REPORTED BY PMRS. 1.) The LIU function panels are now initialized with the DBDLIB, PSBLIB and ACBLIB specified during CS SETUP. 2.) If an existing non-VSAM data set name is entered as the HISTORY data set on panel IDL$UTIE, the user is now prompted to either enter a different name or to delete the existing non-VSAM data set. 3.) If the Unload Data Set Option, 'Use GDGs' is set to 'N' on either panel IDLSOPT0 or IDLSOPT1, the other Unload Options should be blank. The user is prompted to blank the fields if any data has been entered. 4.) Users can now scroll and select DBDs from multiple screens on DBD Collection panel IDLSMAIR. 5.) The Collection process now checks for active DBDs. If such activity is found, changes to the SHARELVL will not be made during the Collection CHANGE.DB command. The user will be prompted if such DBDs exist. An 'ACTIVE' field has been added to panels IDLSCTL2 and IDLSCTL3 to indicate the active DBDs. 6.) The ACBLIB will be checked against the selected DBD list if the 'Check ACBLIB' field is set to 'Y' on panel IDLSOPT2. The user will be prompted if one of the selected DBDs is not a member of the ACBLIB and the Collection will stop. 7.) Residual DBD data has been removed from the Collection Table for multiple collects. 8.) Collection now correctly processes HIDAM DBDs with non-INDEX related LCHILD statements that precede the PRIMARY INDEX LCHILD statement. 9.) An EOF has been added to the temporary Collection output data set to prevent READ/WRITE errors. 10.) Changes have been added to support RECOVGRP. The changes implement error checking that should eliminate concern over mistakes selecting group members. 11.) Changes have been made to resolve the problem with RECON records with a LRECL greater that 32760. Code now builds a KSDS copy of the RECONS. The KSDS is built for commands: BACKREn, REGSn, UCOPYREn and UREORGn. 12.) Code and messages have been added to prompt users to select only one CSID on panel IDLP92 and only one DBDSGRP for Collection on panels IDLSMAIP and IDLSMAIQ. 13.) New part, IDLRLST2, has been added to both CS R310 and CS R220 that is compatible with older releases of Z/OS and OS/390. Both Control Suite R220 and R310 users who are using Z/OS release 1.2, 1.1, or OS/390 R210 and below need to install this maintenance to prevent ICF Catalog READ errors.
