PQ75795: CLASSLOADER.GETRESOURCE RETURNS AN INVALID PATH

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Using ClassLoader.getResource() returns an invalid path if
  the name specified starts with a '/'.  Removing the leading
  '/' produces a valid path.
  getResource() should return null instead of an invalid
  path, which results in an IO exception when trying to
  access.
  

Local fix

• Remove the leading '/' in the path.
  

Problem summary

• An incorrect evaluation of the URL path
  resulted in the
  expected return null statement never being reached.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been fixed so that null is
  now returned,
  rather than an invalid path, if the name starts with a '/'.
  .
  To obtain the fix:
  Install build 20030701 or later
