Error description

  • IEC161I 152-061 and DFS0730I are issued in some cases when
building primary index. The messages are warnings that the
index is empty, but are bothersome. The user does not
explicitly state which method to use when building a primary
index, the database scan method or using the existing primary
(other than if the optional OUTPUT statement is used). If the
root segment is defined with twin backwards pointers (which is
a condition needed to rebuild using an existing primary) the
program attempts to read the existing primary. If no twin
backwards pointers are defined, the read is not attempted.
This APAR will check with IDCAMS if the index is empty before
    attempting to read.

IIUBLDPS JCL member contains the INPUT SCAN statement rather
than INPUT IBSCAN. It will be changed.

    ****************************************************************
BUILD_PRIMARY tries to use the existing primary index if the
data base has bidirectional twin pointers. When the primary
inedex has been redefined, it can not use it and scans the data
base instead. Informational messages may appear.
IB used IB23 as it's own default IMS ID.

Problem conclusion

  • Before using the index method the index is checked for being
empty. If the index is empty, no attempt is made to use it, the
direct scan method beeing applied instead.
Default IMS ID is not being replaced.
Code has been added to follow up PQ70627.
