Error description

  • A logical unload requesting a varchar data type constant to be
converted into a char data type column which length is less than
the length attribute of the source data (varchar constant)
produces a wrong output field. The expected padded zone of the
field is filled out with unpredictable bytes.

For example, this occurs with a logical unload with the
    following SELECT statement :

    SELECT VARCHAR('CONST', 10) INTO C1 CHAR FROM ....

In such a case, the output field could be something like
    ""CONSTa.r@}""."
