Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All administrators of IBM WebSphere * * Application Server managing a web server * * with the Deployment Manager using the * * SOAP Connector with security disabled. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Connection reset occurs starting a * * web server with security disabled. * * No functional issue. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install a fixpack that contains this APAR. * **************************************************************** A connection reset occurs starting a web server with security disabled. An error message appears in the administrative console indicating the web server failed to start. However, the web server does start and is operational. A refresh of the web server console page should reflect the operational status. Note that this problem involves management of a web server, NOT an application server.
Problem conclusion
In some instances a RST was received instead of the normal FIN/end of file. The code will now recognize when the complete SOAP message has been read and treat the RST as a FIN. A JVM system property is required to enable this new behavior. JVM property com.ibm.ws.soap.handleRST must be set to true to enable this new behavior. The default value is false. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.0.0.8 and 8.5.5.2.
