Error description
Attempts to generate report using Rational Publishing Engine from Rational Software Architect Design Management results in garbled character if comment contains Japanese surrogate character. It happens on Microsoft Word and PDF version and the HTML version displays correctly. With Rational Publishing Engine 1.2, the characters are garbled in HTML, Word and PDF version.

Problem conclusion
The issue regarding the Japanese character reported through this APAR is fixed in RRDG 1.2.1 by the upgrading used library. To obtain the Unicode characters in the Word or PDF outputs a Unicode font needs to be used either by defining it in the template or through an external stylesheet (with the latter approach being more reusable).
