Error description
Currently DSNTIAUL unloads XML data as a CLOB and in this format, can not be loaded with DB2 Load utility. LOAD expects XML to have a 2-byte length field and a CLOB has a 4-byte length field. This APAR will fix this so XML data is unloaded as XML data.
Local fix
use LOB file references
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of DSNTIAUL in DB2 Version 9 and * * DB2 Version 10 and DB2 Version 11 for z/OS * * are affected by this change. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Users of DSNTIAUL may observe that it * * unloads XML columns as CLOB when the * * LOBFILE parameter is not specified. * * This can cause the DB2 LOAD utility to * * terminate with return code 8 and this * * message: * * * * DSNU390I -DSN1 hh:mm:ss.nn DSNURWUF - * * INVALID CONVERSION FOR FIELD * * - field-name * * where field-name is the name of an XML * * column in the table being loaded. * * * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** DSNTIAUL is a sample dynamic SQL processing application that is used primarily to unload data from DB2 tables to an externalized format. DSNTIAUL also generates a LOAD control statement that can be used in conjunction with the DB2 LOAD utility to load the externalized data back into DB2. If the LOBFILE option is specified in the DSNTIAUL parameter list, data in XML columns is fully unloaded into CLOB reference files. Otherwise, data in XML columns, up to 32 KB per row, is unloaded in record format and indicated as CLOB the generated LOAD statement. However, the LOAD utility does not support loading XML columns from input record fields specified as CLOB; it fails with the symptoms noted in the problem description.
Problem conclusion
In response, this APAR modifies DSNTIAUL to provide a load statement to load XML data as XML when the LOBFILE option is not specified.
