    * sizes greater than 4 gigabytes are *

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply this service. *
    ****************************************************************
In some cases, when the HALDB contains very large records,
partition sizes of greater than 4 gigabytes might be shown on
the report for MAINTAIN with TAKEOVER(N) and the ANALYZEPART
functions. The reason for this is that Toolkit was designed
to combine 5000 records before testing to see whether a new
partition would potentially be created. This is incorrect
because Toolkit does not support multiple dataset groups for
the MAINTAIN function when additional partitions are requested
and thus 4 gigabytes is the maximum partition size.

Problem conclusion

  • IHCWANA3 now checks the size of each database record to see
if the 4 gigabyte limit would be exceeded for the partition.
