Error description

  • After PM56571/UK75880 installation, selector always tries to

    ****************************************************************
The IMS DataPropagator asynchronous Selector may issue warning
message EKYB229W during processing. This message is preceded by
message EKYB222I. In the particular case of the reported
problem the situation encountered was a result of DBRC PRILOG
compression eliminating reference to an IMS log required by the
Selector. In the problem situation subsequent runs of the
Selector will "stall" indicating the same time period being
identified via message EKYB222I unless changes are made to
indicate to the Selector to bypass this period.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem was a result of the Selector not adjusting it's
leading edge processing time when no log records of interest to
the Selector were encountered during a particular run. In the
reported problem situation runs of the Selector were made over
several days without any records of interest by the Selector
being encountered. Eventually the Selector then encountered a
situation where PRILOG compression had removed reference to an
IMS log the Selector expected to be available. Changes have
been made to the Selector to move the leading edge processing
time forward to an appropriate time even though no records of
specific interest to that Selector have been encountered, thus
avoiding problems of the type in the reported problem case.
However, this does not mean that in all situations PRILOG
compression will now not result in the Selector not finding an
IMS log that it requires for processing. The Selector must
still run on a frequent enough schedule to not be impacted
by DBRC log references being unavailable.
