Error description
ABENDU0004 occurs when all the following conditions are met: - HPIO=YES is used. - DBDS is a multivolume VSAM and its secondary space quantity is zero. - The size of the DBDS is near the 4GB limit. In this case, HP Load sets incorrect H-A-RBA for extending VSAM.
Local fix
HPIO=NO can be specified as a workaround.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM IMS High Performance Load * * for z/OS Version 2 Release 1 (FMID=H1IM210). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABENDU0004 occurs when HPIO=YES, DBDS * * is multivolume VSAM and secondary space * * quantity is zero, DBDS size is near * * 4GB limit. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** ABENDU0004 occurs when HPIO=YES, DBDS is multivolume VSAM and secondary space quantity is 0, DBDS size is near 4GB limit. MSGIEC070I RC=220 precedes the ABENDU0004, because HP Load sets incorrect high-allocated RBA for VSAM extension.
Problem conclusion
HP Load has been modified to avoid VSAM extension with incorrect high-allocated RBA. When HPIO=YES, the secondary space quantity of VSAM is zero, and VSAM attempts to extend beyond 4GB limit, MSGHPSR3783E will be issued preceding the ABENDU0004. ======================== = Documentation Change = ======================== IMS High Performance Load for z/OS Version 2 Release 1 User's Guide SC18-9222-05 ( SC18922205 ) should be changed as follows: ================================================================ 7.2.3.1 IMS HP Load messages : | 7.2.3.1.215 HPSR3783E | HPSR3783E DBDS CANNOT BE EXNTEDED DUE TO THE LIMIT OF RBA | Explanation: IMS HP Load attempts to extend VSAM database | deta set, but the data set cannot be extended because the | high-allocated RBA reaches the 4GB size limit. | System Action: Module HPSRIOIN issues a user 0004 abend. | User Response: Decrease the total size of database by one of | the following: | - Archive old data. | - Use segment compression. | - Divide the database data set into two or more data set | groups. | - Convert to OSAM or HALDB. | If you are reloading an HDAM/PHDAM database, decrease the | total size of database by one of the following: | - Adjust the SEARCH control statement to decrease the number | of segments directed to overflow portion of the database. | - Decrease the number of RAA blocks if there are many unused | RAPs and the RAA has a high percentage of free space.
