PM69050: WHEN RUNNING MFS REVERSAL, ABENDS0C4 CAN OCCUR AFTER REVERSING MFS SOURCE

Error description

• When running MFS Reversal, ABENDS0C4 can occur after reversing
  MFS source when one of the following conditions met:
  - When storage area for I/O buffer obtained by MFS Reversal
  is freed and other utility obtains the area immediately before
  MFS Reversal re-accesses.
  - When running on an environment freed storage area is not
  accessible. One of the environment is CLIST environment.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When MFS Reversal utility or MFS        *
  *                      Compare utility runs, ABEND0C4 can      *
  *                      occur after reversing MFS source files  *
  *                      or comparing MFS control blocks.        *

  *                      The ABEND0C4 is caused by accessing     *
  *                      freed internal work area in the         *
  *                      storage. It occurs when one of the      *
  *                      following conditions met:               *
  *                                                              *
  *                       - When the internal work area in the   *
  *                         storage obtained by MFS Reversal     *
  *                         utility or MFS Compare utility is    *
  *                         freed and other utility obtains the  *
  *                         area immediately before MFS Reversal *
  *                         utility or MFS Compare utility       *
  *                         re-accesses.                         *
  *                                                              *
  *                       - When MFS Reversal utility or MFS     *
  *                         Compare utility runs on an           *
  *                         environment that freed area in the   *
  *                         storage is not accessible. One of    *
  *                         the environment is CLIST             *
  *                         environment.                         *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR.         *
  ****************************************************************
  MFS Reversal utility and MFS Compare utility accesses freed
  internal work area in the storage when closing data sets after
  reversing MFS source files or comparing MFS control blocks.
  
  If one of the following conditions met, the internal work area
  is not accessible and ABEND0C4 occurs.
  
   - When the internal work area in the storage obtained by MFS
     Reversal utility or MFS Compare utility is freed and other
     utility obtains the area immediately before MFS Reversal
     utility or MFS Compare utility re-accesses.
  
   - When MFS Reversal utility or MFS Compare utility runs on an
     environment that freed area in the storage is not accessible.
     One of the environment is CLIST environment.
  
  This APAR fixes MFS Reversal utility and MFS Compare utility
  not to access the internal work area in the storage after the
  area is freed.
