Error description
Update to currency code for Vietnamese Dong (VND) As per ISO 4217 email sent on 18 October 2011, the currency of Viet Nam (Dong / VND / 704) now has a minor unit of 0. The effective date of this change (from 2 to 0) was on 01 January 2004. The MA for ISO 4217 has never sent an amendment for this change. In 2009 they received a message from the Central Bank of Viet Nam, therefore they changed the Minor Unit for VND from 2 to 0 but no information was sent to their subscribers. After a customer highlighted the difference between SWIFT and ISO, SWIFT updated its Network in November 2011. But some customers did encounter problems with "nacked" messages, so we decided to implement a workaround that allowed both decimals 0 and 2 for a certain period of time. As of 03 March 2012 the decimal 2 is no more authorized on the SWIFT Network and VND is now exactly reflecting the ISO format: CURRENCY CODE: VND CURRENCY NAME: DONG FRACTIONAL DIGIT: 0 NUMERIC CODE: 704 The currency table on the SWIFT network has been updated last weekend on 03 March 2012.
