  In DB2 Object Comparison Tool and DB2 Administration Tool for
  z/OS, when using Compare function or ALT function to change a
  DECIMAL column definition from DECIMAL(p,s) to DECIMAL(q,t),
  where q>=p and q-t>=p-s, a DROP/RECREATE is used instead of
  ALTER.
  

Problem conclusion

• Problem has been resolved. When changing a DECIMAL column
  definition from DECIMAL(p,s) to DECIMAL(q,t), smart ALTER will
  be used to implement the change instead of DROP/RECREATE if
  the change matches the supported alteration rule from DB2:
  q>=p and q-t>=p-s.
