Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS DEDB FAST RECOVERY Version 2 * * Release 2 (FMID=H1J2220) users in IMS V10 * * or V11. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR is DFR version for IMS V10 * * APAR PM40155 (PTF is UK72970) and IMS * * V11 APAR PM48847 (PTF is UK72971). * * - PM40155 and PM48847 * * DFSFDLW0 is passed a 2 byte field from * * DFSULG20 to indicate primary and secon- * * dary WADS. If DFSWADS1 is specified in * * the JCL but DFSWADS0 is not, the first * * byte of the field is X'00'. * * DFSFDLW0 checks the first byte, and if * * it is X'00', assumes no WADS available * * and doesn't bother checking the second * * bytes, which may not be X'00' if * * DFSWADS1 was specified. This results in * * WADS read processing being skipped as * * NOWADS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** - PM51297 for IMS DEDB Fast Recovery DFRGCLSA/B sets a value taken from the last X'4800' log record as a value of RLGWMAT field in the parameter list (RLWPSUFX) passed to DFRFDLWA/B and reflects the WADSs allocation status to WADSID in RLGWMAT field. If a secondary WADS is allocated but a primary WADS is not in a dual WADS environment, the first byte of WADSID in RLGWMAT field is X'00'. DFRFDLWA/B checks the first byte of WADSID, and if it is X'00', assumes no WADS available and doesn't bother checking the second byte. This results in WADS read processing being skipped as NOWADS and DFR may lose the committed log records in WADS.

Comments
The following modules have been modified. (x = A and B) * DFRFDLWx - This module was changed so that a second check that runs if the first byte in WADSID is X'00' might be added. WADS read processing is then only skipped as NOWADS if both bytes are X'00'. *
