Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IBM WebSphere Application Server V7.0 * * and V8.0 users of JAX-RPC Web services * * with attachments. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using * * javax.activation.datahandler objects * * for SOAP attachments, incorrect * * attachment data could be used. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install a fix pack containing this APAR. * **************************************************************** The JAX-RPC engine uses a HashMap to manage the attachment parts created for DataHandler objects. The key for this HashMap is DataHandler.hashCode(). However, the hashCode() for DataHandelr objects are not always unique, which could cause undexpected results. This likely happens when an application uses a lot of DataHandler objects to invoke the service.
Problem conclusion
The JAX-RPC engine has been updated to ensure a unique key is used for each DataHandler object. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 7.0.0.23 and 8.0.0.3.
