Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for * * z/OS. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The following enhancements are * * delivered: * * * * - MIG can now use the DB2 Cross * * Loader to load target objects. * * - FLASHCOPY is now an available * * option on the LOAD utility where * * the LOAD utility options are used. * * - Control of ENFORCE on LOAD is now * * available. * * - A batch interface to Change * * Management (CM batch) has been * * added. * * - ALT has been enhanced to run on * * sequences, aliases, synonyms and * * procedures. * * - ALT panel ADB27CA 'Alter Objects' * * now displays information tailored to * * each object type in the new Info1 and * * Info2 fields. * * - Within ALT, new object names are * * propagated to DDL created for other * * altered objects that refer to the * * renamed object. * * Message ADB200W 'Table or column names * * were changed.' is no longer issued to * * remind you to edit any related * * objects, and the 'CHG Rqd' column is * * removed from panel ADB27CA 'Alter * * Objects'. Also, the 'E - Edit DDL' * * line command is now only valid on * * Views. * * - Utilities panel ADB2US 'Table * * Space Utilities' is enhanced with * * the ability to select utilities * * at one time. * * - For the recovery of a sequence * * restart value, an option has been * * added called SEQUENCE RESTART VALUE. * * - Change the granularity of the * * default LOB and XML templates to * * include a reference to the table * * (&TNAME) in addition to the space * * name. Space name is not enough to * * make this data set unique. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The following enhancements are provided with this APAR: - MIG can now use the DB2 Cross Loader to load target objects. Use 'Unload method' C to generate migrate jobs that uses the DB2 Cross Loader to transfer data from the source objects to the target objects. - FLASHCOPY is now an available option on the LOAD utility where LOAD utility options are used. FLASHCOPY will force the use of templates and will use templates specified in the following order: 1- User-defined templates 2- FLASHCOPY template contained in ADB2UCUS 3- ZPARM FLASHCOPY template if present 4- Default template name - Control of ENFORCE on LOAD is now available. If utility options are specified, ENFORCE can now be set to YES which will enforce constraints on LOAD. Keep in mind that the sequence of LOADs becomes important and you may discard rows if tables are loaded out of sequence. If utility options are NOT specified, or if they are specified but ENFORCE is not entered, ENFORCE NO will be the default used everywhere but in stand-alone LOAD such as the UT 'Utility selections' option. - A batch interface to Change Management (CM batch) has been added. This allows a change to be imported, analyzed, run, and recovered without using the CM panels. In chapter 20 'Managing changes to DB2 objects', a new section titled 'Making changes using Change Management batch interface' has been added to describe this new CM batch interface. In chapter 2 'Activating DB2 Admin', the 'Step 3. Set up to use Change Management' section has been updated to describe the set up for CM batch. - ALT has been enhanced to run on sequences, aliases, synonyms and procedures. The ALT line command is now allowed for these objects so that users can redefine them. - ALT panel ADB27CA 'Alter Objects' now displays information tailored to each object type in the new Info1 and Info2 fields. For example, for an index the schema and name of the associated table or view is shown. For a stored procedure, the version, if any, is shown. For a foreign key constraint, the dependent table schema and name are shown. - Within ALT, new object names are propagated to DDL created for other altered objects that refer to the renamed object. For example: within an ALT session, if you change a table name and one of its column names, then alter an index on that table that refers to the renamed column, you do not need to further alter the index with the new table and column names. In related changes: Message ADB200W 'Table or column names were changed.' is no longer issued to remind you to edit any related objects, and the 'CHG Rqd' column is removed from panel ADB27CA. Also, the 'E - Edit DDL' line command is now only valid on Views. - Utilities panel ADB2US is enhanced with the ability to select multiple utilities at one time. For example, the user may type 'C O R' in the primary command line and the job that is built will have steps for COPY, REORG, and RUNSTATS. In addition, a new field is introduced to panel ADB2US 'Table Space Utilities', which allows the user to define a list of utilities that they can process simply by typing 'SM' on the primary command line. The value of the standard maintenance field is saved in the user profile and is preserved across logons. - For the recovery of a sequence restart value, an option has been added to the panel ADBP7P 'ALTER Analysis Options' ( for ALT ) and ADB2C11A 'Generate Analyze Job' ( for CM ) called SEQUENCE RESTART VALUE which will allow a user two choices, 'O' for Original and 'C' for Computed. Original will recover the RESTART value for a sequence back to its original value and Computed will use the DB2 catalog values to set RESTART to the next sequence value not cached. A new column in the ADBCHG table called SEQSVLR will be used to hold this option's value. - The default values to the ADBLOBO and ADBXMLO data set names in the ADB2UCUS dataset are shipped in SAMP(ADB2UCU7).
