Error description

  • DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS fails cc1012 in convert
jobstep CNV10001 when processing second, or subsequent, ALT
operation, when using panel ADBPALT option:
    .
1 - Continue by having the data sets deleted and recreated.
    .
Panel ADBPALT warns of existing WSL or DSN names with the
    following text:
    .
Data sets for the chosen prefix and worklist already exist.
Continuing will cause the loss of all existing content in
      those data sets
    .
Choosing option 1 builds a job, which fails during execution.
Error messages in joblog convert step appear similar to:

    ****************************************************************
The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS reuses the last
contents of the IFF data set in the Apply job when setting
'Perform analysis in batch' to 'NO' on panel ADBP7P and
then using an existing worklist name/prefix on panel
    ADBPALT.

Problem conclusion

  • REXX EXEC ADBEALT has been modified to use the correct content
of the IFF dataset for the ALT function.

After this APAR is applied, submitting the Apply JCL job
may fail with a JCL error and stop execution in the
load step if using an existing worklist name/prefix
on panel ADBPALT. The JCL error is issued due to
SYSDISC data set for DSNUPROC in the load step is
not defined because a duplicate name exists in the catalog.
The JCL error is expected because there is an existing SYSDISC
data set from the previous ALT action. To work around,
the user can delete or rename the existing SYSDISC data
set and then rerun the Apply JCL job from the load step.
Additionally, a follow-on APAR will address this issue
to provide the users with a choice to delete the existing
    SYSDISC data set.
