Problem conclusion
On DB2 9, before APAR PM16023 (PTF UK64833) is available, when a synonym is used in a dynamic SQL statement, DB2 incorrectly used the CURRENT SCHEMA instead of CURRENT SQLID as the owner of the synonym. To tolerate this DB2 error, the DB2 Administration Tool Validate Work Statement List ( WSL ) function also applies CURRENT SCHEMA as the owner of the synonym for the CREATE SYNONYM and DROP SYNONYM statements. The code has been updated to use CURRENT SQLID as the owner of the synonym when processing the CREATE SYNONYM and DROP SYNONYM statements. This APAR only resolves the Validate error for the CREATE SYNONYM and DROP SYNONYM statements. The Validate error which is caused by the synonym being referenced in other statements will be resolved by a future APAR. For users of DB2 9, please ensure that DB2 APAR PM16023 (PTF UK64833) is installed.
