    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The DB2 Object Comparison Tool *
    * generated the ALTER TABLE SET DATA TYPE *
    * statement when the table should be *
    *                      DROPPED/RECREATED with the new column   *
    *                      type.                                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The DB2 Object Comparison Tool generated the ALTER TABLE SET
    DATA TYPE statement for column updates from DECIMAL to
    SMALLINT, INTEGER, and DECFLOAT when a DROP/CREATE TABLE
    statement should have been generated.

Problem conclusion

  • The DB2 Object Comparison Tool will DROP/CREATE for the table,
    instead of ALTER'ing the table for the following column
    updates:

    DECIMAL(5, 0) to SMALLINT
    DECIMAL(10,0) to INTEGER
    DECIMAL(17, 0) to DECFLOAT(16)
