Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0.0.15 and later on Z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Performance fix in WAS * * 7.0.0.15 for Z/OS to cache native * * Z/OS user data does not * * work in multi-threaded environment. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When running WAS 7.0.0.15 where multiple WAS requests using same user with SyncToThread enabled, S4C6 abends occur. APAR PM25398 allows multiple threads/TCBs to use the same cached/shared ACEE. Therefore more than one thread can end up sharing the same ACEE and that will result in times where one thread deletes the USP data while another thread is using it.
Problem conclusion
The solution was to remove this performance fix until a more comprehensive solution is determined. APAR PM39296 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.19 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0 and 8.0.0.1 of WebSphere Application Server V8.0.
