Error description

  • An ORF job communicates with the IMS Control Region via XCF.
    For a heavily used system, XCF traffic can become excessive and
    result in the following problems:
    - HRF01521W  Error from IMP2: FUNC=IXCMSGO RC=0000000C
      RSN=00000004
      HRF01000E Too much traffic in XCF
      HRF01000E  Capture function shutting down
    - HRF01517E Error encountered during Change capture for DBD
      FUNC=Unknown RC=00000004 RSN=00000127
    - Timeouts waiting for XCF messages

    This APAR is correcting the following:
    1. XCF traffic related problems.
    Explanation: When ORF captures changes, it does so by DBD
    reference. However, some log records do not have the DBD
    reference, but neeed to be shipped. These records may then
    be ignored in the ORF job.
    2. NOREORGI was done using the temporary RECON
    Explanation: The database is HALDB, so a temporary RECON is
    used to allocate the shadow datasets. The apply phase failed
    and triggered recovery. Recovery did not swap back to the
    original RECON, so the NOREORGI was done against the wrong
    RECON, leaving the flag on in the original RECON.

Problem conclusion

  • The following changes have been made for the above problems:
    1. A filter has been inserted to check if any changes have been
    made for that PST. If no changes had been made, those "not
    identifiable" records are no longer shipped to the ORF job.
    2. The recovery process has been changed to swap back to the
    original RECON if the temporary RECON was active.
    3. After applying this fix, The IMS CTL region must be recycled.
