PM36340: BATCH WSL SYSPRINT DSN NOT RETRIEVED FROM ADB2UCUS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS batch WSL SYSPRINT DSN is
  not retrieved from the ADB2UCUS ISPF skeleton.
  .
  ISPF skeleton ADB2WL4 was not using the ADB2UCUS value due to
  missing customization. Customization step was overlooked due to
  missing sample job and ++HOLD DATA describing post-SMP/e
  customization step.

  PRINTDSN variable is described in apar pm08490 for r720 ptf
  uk60356 :
  .
        Example ADB2UCUS setting for user to add :
        )CM     USED IN SKEL ADB2WL4  WSL- WORK STATEMENT LIST
        )SET PRINTDSN = &ZUSER..&WORKLIST..SYSPRINT

  In r720, once these statements are added to ADB2UCUS skeleton,
  and ptf uk60356 APPLY'd, the problem is resolved.

  In ra10, the example customization statements were not included
  in base level ADB2UCUS member of SADBSLIB. This apar will serve
  as a forward-fit of apar pm08490.

  Reporting customer wanted to change HLQ for //SYSPRINT DD in the
  ADB2WL4 ISPF skeleton to use GOCPRE variable from DB2 Object
  Compare Tool for z/OS GOC5 panel. For the OC APPLY job in ra10,
  customer modified example customization statement in ADB2UCUS to
  use HLQ from &GOCPRE variable instead of &ZUSER variable shown
  above.
  

Local fix

• Add the example customization statements to the ADB2UCUS
  ISPF skeleton member of SADBSLIB.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In the DB2 Administration Tool for      *
  *                      z/OS, while running a Work Statement    *
  *                      List (WSL) using batch job, the         *
  *                      SYSPRINT DSN for the ADBTEP2 step       *
  *                      is missing and fails with the following *
  *                      JCL error:                              *
  *                                                              *
  *                      IEF648I INVALID DISP FIELD- PASS        *
  *                      SUBSTITUTED                             *
  *                                                              *
  *                      and the ADBWSPR DSN is also missing and *
  *                      fails with the following error:         *
  *                                                              *
  *                      IEF212I ADBWSPR - DATA SET NOT FOUND    *
  *                                     STEP WAS NOT EXECUTED.   *
  *                                                              *
  *                      As a result, the Load Summary Report    *
  *                      step is not retrieved from the          *
  *                      ADB2UCUS ISPF skeleton. The data sets   *
  *                      are allocated using the TSO userid      *
  *                      as the high level qualifier which       *
  *                      might not be workable for the user.     *
  *                      APAR PM08490 has already enabled        *
  *                      retrieving customized SYSPRINT DSN      *
  *                      from ADB2UCUS but missed the SAMPLE     *
  *                      job and the ++HOLD DATA describing      *
  *                      post-SMP/e customization steps.         *
  *                      Also, the prefix of data sets from      *
  *                      DB2 Object Compare/Change               *
  *                      Management panel GOC5 ' Generate        *
  *                      Compare Jobs' and panel ADB2CEX1        *
  *                      'Run a Change' is not applied to        *
  *                      WSL SYSPRINT DSN when the user          *
  *                      choose to build the RUN WSL JCL         *
  *                      during the COMPARE or ANALYZE           *
  *                      change.                                 *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  In the DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS, while running a Work
  Statement List (WSL) using batch job, the SYSPRINT DSN for the
  ADBTEP2 step is missing and fails with the following JCL error:

  and the ADBWSPR DSN is also missing and fails with the

  a Change' is not applied to WSL SYSPRINT DSN when the user
  choose to build the RUN WSL JCL during the COMPARE or
  ANALYZE change.
  

Problem conclusion

• Sample member ADB2UCU6 for DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS
  Version 7.2 and ADB2UCU4 for DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS
  Version 10.1 were added to provide the instructions on the
  post-SMP/e customization steps.  Skeleton ADB2WL4 was modified
  by removing the building of the &PRINTDSN value let the value
  be retrieved from ADB2UCUS.  This APAR also enables the prefix
  of data sets from DB2 Object Compare/Change Management panels
  GOC5 'Generate Compare Jobs' and panel ADB2CEX1 'Run a Change'
  to be applied to PRINTDSN when a user choose to be build the
  run WSL JCL during a COMPARE or ANALYZE change.
  
  After this APAR is applied, the user must perform the action
  described in the ++HOLD. If the instructions in ++HOLD is not
  followed, the &PRINTDSN will be blank, and running WSL in
  batch mode will fail with a JCL error due to a missing value
  for SYSPRINT DSN.
