PM34948: HRFOREO2 WITH MULTIPLE BMPS AND ORF ATTEMPTS TO NOTIFY TO PAUSE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• ABEND0C4 in HRFOREO2 when multiple BMPs are there
  and ORF tries to notify to pause those.
  Also, the following requirements will be addressed:
  MR0223115025 - ORF abends when a DLI/ULU region has the
  database registered. ORF should retry with DLI jobs just like
  BMP's.
  MR0223115545 - ORF should use different abend codes for
  different error situations instead of ABENDU0999.

  The following issues are being addressed in this APAR:
  1. Abend 0C4 in HRFOREO2 when multiple BMPs are there and ORF
  tries to notify to pause those.
  Explanation:  ORF creates a list of all BMPs using the
  database ORF is trying to reorganize.  The list containing
  the BMP and its DBDs was too small.
  2.Allow for DLI jobs to finish within a reasonable time
  during ORF start.
  Explanation:  ORF abends when a DLI/ULU region has the
  database registered
  3.Use different abend codes for different error situations.
  Explanation:  User wants automation (or operating) to work on
  an easier way of error handling rather than looking at the
  MSGPRINT file.
  

Problem conclusion

• The following changes have been made for the above issues:
  1.ORF now keeps only the BMP jobname. Also, the number of
  entries in the list has been increased.
  2.A new SETOP (SAMPLIB member HRFSETOP) parameter DLIRETRY
  has been introduced.  It describes the number of 10 second
  intervals ORF should check for DLI jobs. If the retry count
  has expired, ORF will abend.
  3.Different abend codes are not possible as IMS and the user
  have a distinct range. However, an option to have the "E"
  messages shown in the joblog has been provided.
  To activate this option, a DDstmt
       //$$ERRMSG  DD  DUMMY
  must be provided in the ORF JCL
