IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Application Diagnostics V7.1 fixes
APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of ITCAM for Application Diagnostics * 6.2 and 7.1 who monitor WebSphere 7 which uses Sun JVM 1.6 * with default locale: de_DE * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * Problem is related with bug in Sun JVM: * http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6609737 * * On Solaris and HPux IBM uses Sun HotSpot JVM so when parsing * WebSphere logs (while running on locale de_DE) there is an * exception and logs are not displayed in 'Log Analysis' * workspace. * * Old APAR PM24802 fixes parsing only timestamps with 'MESZ' * time zone which is used for summer time (equivalent of CEST). * In winter 'MEZ' time zone is printed and date parsing * exceptions still occur. Parsing of 'MEZ' time zone is fixed by * this new APAR. ****************************************************************
Local fix
**************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Use interim fix 4 7.1.0.1-TIV-ITCAMAD-IF0004 * or newer. * * There is also a workaround: set variable TZ to GMT - Websphere * logs will be printed with GMT time zone instead of MESZ or * MEZ. This requires following: * * 1. Stop WebSphere * 2. Set TZ variable to GMT by executing: * export TZ=GMT * 3. Start WebSphere ****************************************************************
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: ITCAM for Application Diagnostics 7.1 and * ITCAM for WebSphere 6.1 users who monitor WebSphere 7 using * HotSpot JVM 1.6 with detault locale de_DE. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * Due to the following HotSpot JVM bug, there is an exception * while parsing WebSphere log entries to be displayed in the * Log Analysis workspace: * * http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6609737 * * This APAR fixes the parsing of timestamps with "MEZ" time * zone, which is used for winter time (equivalent to CET). * APAR PM24802 had previously fixed the "MESZ" (equivalent to * CEST) time zone for summer time. * **************************************************************** * * RECOMMENDATION: Use AD 7.1.0.2 interim fix 1 * (7.1.0.2-TIV-ITCAMfAD-IF0001) or newer to resolve this issue. * ****************************************************************
