PM29817: RECOVERY NEEDED FLAG SET AFTER A SUCCESSFUL ORF RUN

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The recovery needed flag is turned on for a DB (in this case
a secondary index) after an ORF run. The following condtions
must be met for this to occur:
    1) There is an ALLOC record in the RECON whose USID is greater
       than the DB record
    2) RECON cleanup must be invoked.
This APAR is waiting on FITS requirement MR011111225 which was
written to DBRC to provide an interface to modify the USID of a
    DB record in the RECON.
This seems to be more prevalent running IMS V11 and later.
Since ORF would not run if the recovery needed flag was on, and
the recovery needed flag is not turned on by ORF for any reason,
a circumvention for this problem would be to run the DBRC
utility, DSPURX00 after ORF and ensure that the recovery needed
    flag is turned off.

Problem conclusion

  • A new setup parameter in HRFSET was created to enable the
function NORECOV=Y|N . The default is N. When Y is specified,
ORF will check after the NOTIFY.IC if the RECOV NEEDED
flag has been turned on. It will then turn the flag off.
