Error description

  • The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS does not correctly allocate
    the CNT dataset for objects defined as DEFER YES resulting in
    ADBT333I messages from ADBTAL:
    DATA SET nnn.nnn.nnn.CNT.Tnnnn NOT IN CATALOG OR CATALOG CAN NOT
    BE ACCESSED
    MISSING DATA SET NAME+
    MISSING NAME OF DATA SET TO BE ALLOCATED
    resulting in a step condition code of 303.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for *
    * z/OS who make changes to table spaces or *
    * tables inside of table spaces that are not *
    *                 defined  (i.e. created with the DB2          *
    * attribute of DEFINE NO) and where the *
    * changes involve an UNLOAD. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Problems will occur in either ADB27AC *
    * when run through batch or using *
    *                      ADB27AC with a work statement list      *
    * (WSL). A RC of 303 can occur from *
    * the ADBTAL EXEC because the control *
    * card data set is either not created *
    * or built without a DCB, resulting in *
    *                      an invalid format.                      *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    This results from the fact that DB2 UNLOAD does not allocate
    the control card or unload data data sets if using templates
    and the object is built with DEFINE NO. In the case of JCL, the
    DCB was not provided resulting in an error in the conversion
    program (ADB27AC) in this same situation.

Problem conclusion

  • Apply the fix. The fix will check the disposition of the object
    when the JCL is generated or, for WSL, at runtime. If the
    object to be unloaded is not defined, the unload will not run
    and if the control card data set is not created, neither the
    convert ADB27AC or the LOAD will run.
