Error description
CCRC CLI 'mkelem' command needs to update new elements parent di rectory to reflect checkout
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Performing a mkelem command from the IBM Rational ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC) command line interface (CLI) needs to update new elements parent directory to reflect checkout. When executing the 'mkelem' command using the CCRC CLI, the following actions are performed: 1. New elements parent directory is checked out 2. New element is created 3. New element is checked in The 'mkelem' command leaves the parent directory checked out - as one would expect. However, an attempt to checkin the parent directory of the new element fails because the local workspace does not get updated with the checkout information. WORKAROUND: Perform a view update on the parent directory of the new element and then the checkin of the directory will be successful.
Problem conclusion
A fix for this problem is available for ClearCase 7.1.1.8, 7.1.2.5 and 8.0.0.1
