Error description
While using a JAX-WS application, a LogConfigurationException error may occur. Here is an example error. Note that the error is often found in the "Caused by" section of another error: com.ibm.wsspi. webcontainer.extension.WebExtensionProcessor createServletWrapper Error occured while preparing the servlet for initialization. java.lang.Exception: java.lang. ExceptionInInitializerError ... Caused by: org.apache.commons.logging.LogConfigurationException: org apache.commons.logging.LogConfigurationException: org.apache.commons.logging.LogConfigurationException: Class org.apache.commons.logging.impl.Jdk14Logger does not implement Log This error will only occur if the JAX-WS application contains org.apache.commons.logging.* classes. In most cases, the error states "org.apache.commons.logging.impl.Jdk14Logger does not implement Log". It is also possible that you will see the same message with a different Logger class.

Here is an example error. Note that the error is often found in the "Caused by" section of another error: com.ibm.wsspi. webcontainer.extension.WebExtensionProcessor createServletWrapper Error occured while preparing the servlet for initialization. java.lang.Exception: java.lang. In most cases, the error states "org.apache.commons.logging.impl.Jdk14Logger does not implement Log". It is also possible that you will see the same message with a different Logger class. These symptoms indicate that the Logger provided in the customer application is interfering with the Logger used in the JAX-WS runtime.
Problem conclusion
The Logger classes provided by the application interfere with the Logger classes required by the JAX-WS runtime. The JAX-WS runtime packaging is changed to ensure that its Logger class is always used. This change eliminates the problem. The same problem is fixed in the Version 7.0 WebSphere Application Server by PM09877. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 6.1.0.33.
