APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • - Provide a COPY function
The COPY function creates a copy of the database
while it is being updated. It uses the shadow datasets to copy
the database to. The shadow datasets are kept. The database on
the shadow dataset is consistent. There is no need to use a
fuzzy read (GON/GOT PSB) to process the database.
HALDB Toolkit can be used to process HALDB's without having
      them registered.
    - Compress the unload file when using HPLOAD for reload.
In response to FITS # MR1130092925.
The unload file contains un-compressed segments when
secondary indexes must be created. This increases the size
of the unload file. The process has been changed to expand
the segment at the reload process when the segment is an
      index source segment.

The following enhancements are being made via this APAR:
    1.Provide a COPY function
The COPY function creates a copy of the database while
it is being updated. It uses the shadow datasets to copy the
database to. The shadow datasets are kept.
The database on the shadow dataset is consistent. There is no
need to use a fuzzy read (GON/GOT PSB) to process the database.
HALDB Toolkit can be used to process HALDB's without having
    them registered.
2.Compress the unload file when using HPLOAD for reload.
The unload file contains un-compressed segments when
secondary indexes must be created. This increases the size of
    the unload file.
The process has been changed to expand the segment at the
reload process when the segment is a index source segment.
