PM02498: GEN PANEL ADB2GEN "OUTPUT FILE AND EXECUTION MODE:" DATA SET AND "DB2 COMMAND OUTPUT FILE:" DATA SET PDS DIFFERENT MEMBERS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS GEN function intermittently
  populates the member specified in the "DB2 Command output file"
  PDS with the data from the "Output file and execution mode:"
  destination if the same PDS is used.
  Example if we specify:
  Output file and execution mode:Data set name: GENSQL.DATA(DDL)
  DB2 Command output file:Data set name: GENSQL.DATA(CMD)
  sometimes the CMD member will contain the DDL.
  .
  In addition panel ADB2GEN "Generate SQL from DB2 catalog"
  allows a "Data set disposition:" of SHR when PDS datasets are
  used resulting in an ABENDS213-30 when executed.
  

Local fix

• Do not use the same PDS for the output dataset and do not use
  a disposition of SHR when using PDS for the output dataset

  An ABEND S213 occurred when the same partitioned data set was
  specified for the SQL output file and the DB2 command output
  file, but different members were specified:

       ADB2GEN at statement 78
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been resolved.  The GEN program now supports
  the same sequential file or same partitioned data set for the
  SQL output file and DB2 command file.
