Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of QCF2.1 with multiple LPARs * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR improves data set handling * * and error messages when multiple LPARs * * are served by a single client. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Data sets hlq.BROWSE, hlq.BROWSES.hlq.UNLOAD and other are created by client and used by server. They are unallocated from client and allocated on server site, after the function is done - they are unallocated from server and allocated to client. When several LPARs are served by a single client- the client and servers on each LPAR have to have access to these data sets - they should be allocated on shared packs, and freed if server does not finish the functions and returns bad return code to client. When server can not finish the function for some allocation or other error - message IQCI015A is returned to client with several reasons, but the data set allocation is not returned as a possible reason. Also - some error info is put in the hlq.QCFPRINT file, but there is no reference to this file in the error messages text. In the APAR a FREE request is issued for the client's data sets before new allocation. The error message IQCI0015A is improved, the and more information in hlq.QCFPRINT file is pointing to the possible reasons.
Problem conclusion
Install the APAR to fix data set allocation errors and to have better diagnostic information.
