Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS DEDB FAST RECOVERY Version 2 * * Release 2 (FMID=H1J2220) users who use * * IMS V9, IMS V10 or IMS V11. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Various problems of DFR about a 'DEDB * * AREA STATUS LIST' detected as the * * results of an additional code review * * and tests. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** The following problems under IMS V9, IMS V10 and IMS V11 are fixed by this APAR: * 1. If an AREA goes bad, a DMAC is not logged when closing the ADS, so a stop flag (DMACF1ST) is not propagated by a X'5957' log record. If the last ADS is bad and the X'5957' log record doesn't exist following a X'5922' log record, the stop flag (DMACF1ST) should be set with the X'5922' log record even if the AREA is registered to DBRC. When DFR processes the X'5922' log record, DFR checks a DOCLFLG2 field for the AREA which has only one ADS and is not registered to DBRC. If the AREA is registered to DBRC, 'DEDB AREA STATUS LIST' doesn't show 'STOPPED, NOPENED' status for the AREA which is stopped and closed due to a severe I/O error without creating EEQEs. * 2. A '/STA DB xxxxxxxx ACCESS=xx' command closes all AREAs and writes X'5922' log records with a DOCLF2ST flag. When DFR processes the X'5922' log record, DFR checks a DOCLFLG2 field for the AREA which has only one ADS and is not registered to DBRC. If the DOCLF2ST flag is set on the DOCLFLG2 field, DFR sets a stop flag (DMACF1ST) on a DMAC. If an AREA is not registered to DBRC, a 'DEDB AREA STATUS LIST' shows 'STOPPED, NOPENED' status for the area which is opened and re-started by a '/STA DB xxxxxxxx ACCESS=xx' command.
Problem conclusion
The following modules have been modified. (x = 9, A and B) * DFRL592x - This module was changed as follows. . A check of the registration flag to DBRC (DMACECD8) was deleted for a X'5922' log record process. . A DOCLF2ST flag that was set by '/STA DB xxxxxx ACCESS=xx' command was deleted from the judgment whether the AREA is stopped or not. *
