Error description
When a Version 7.0 application server or managed node is defined within the PMT for z/OS with AUTOUID specified ("Allow OS security to assign UID") for the servant UID, the BBOSBRAK job will not generate the servant user ID. As a result, the server will not start unless the servant user ID has previously been defined (such as for a deployment manager definition).
Local fix
The bypass is to define the servant user ID manually (or assign a user-specified UID when defining the user ID within the PMT for z/OS).
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V7.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Version 7.0 WebSphere Application * * Server for z/OS server fails to start * * when AUTOUID was selected for the * * servant UID. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The BBOSBRAK job that is created by the Version 7.0 PMT for z/OS for building a Version 7.0 application server or managed node will not define the servant user ID if AUTOUID was specified for the servant UID. This will cause the server not to start (unless the servant user ID has previously been defined).
Problem conclusion
The Version 7.0 PMT for z/OS was updated to build the BBOSBRAK job correctly when AUTOUID is specified for the servant UID. This causes the servant user ID to be defined when the BBOSBRAK job is run. APAR PK72694 is currently targeted for inclusion in WebSphere Customization Tools 7.0.0.1.
