APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Slow response time during Classic logon  and thread display
after application of latest maintenance.  Thread Display takes
30 to 60 secs.  DSG ( Data Sharing Group ) fixes UK37808,UK37832
and UK37871 are applied.

A site might also see an increased volume of IRLM queries and
increased use of the coupling facility ( XCF )

Local fix

  • Circumvention is to turn off LKUS and WTRE exception processing.
Change them to STATE=OFF in Classic profile
LKUS - Number of locks owned by an individual thread
WTRE - Time thread waiting for a resource
1.  From Classic Menu Panel (ZMENU), choose P
2.  From ZPROF panel , choose B
3.  From ZXTHD panel, choose exception you want turned off.
    LKUS (J) WTRE (Y) - play around to see if you need to turn
    off one or both of these exceptions.
4.  You can set the STATE=OFF, to turn off exception for the
    current  VTAM session.

Locking conflict exception retrieves
lock information multiple times.
Site may also experience higher than normal volumes of IRLM
queries and increase coupling facility utilization.

only once per processing cycle.
