Error description
ADMIN 720 ENHANCEMENTS TO ALLOW A DIFFFERENT USERID TO RESTART A CHANGE OR WORK STATEMENT LIST(WSL).
Local fix
APPLY PTF.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of DB2 Administration Tool V72 who * * want to restart a work list or change * * originally run by another userid. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When ADBTEP2 processes input, and a * * failure occurs, a checkpoint record * * is written to the ADBCHKPT table. * * * * This checkpoint record is used upon * * subsequent restart to reposition to * * the point of failure. * * * * The job submitter's userid is part of * * the key for this checkpoint entry. * * * * With this enhancement, a different * * submitter can restart the failed * * process by using the original * * submitter's id to locate the * * appropriate checkpoint record. * * * * When restarting a change in the * * product's Change Management * * database(CM), the product locates * * the checkpoint record associated * * with the change automatically. * * * * To restart a work list outside of * * change management, for example to * * run a work statement list, the * * keyword USER() may be specified as * * an optional input parameter to the * * ADBTEP2 program to specify the * * userid value to use for locating * * the checkpoint record. This parameter * * is only valid for restarting a * * worklist. If a checkpoint , and that * * checkpoint entry must exist. * * * * In both the change management mode and * * the work list case, the job submitter's * * authorities are used when processing * * the input stream. * * * * To support this capability for change * * management, the JOBUSER column must * * be added to the ADBCHG table. Use the * * member ADBCHU05 in SADBSAMP library to * * add this column to the table. SADBSAMP * * members ADBCHANG and ADBCHAN7 have been * * updated to include the column for new * * CM database installations. * * * * Changes which are in RUNNING state * * prior to adding this column will not * * have a value for JOBUSER. Upon restart * * of the change, if the job submitter's * * userid matches the ALTERED BY value for * * the change, that userid is updated in * * the JOBUSER column and that id is used * * to locate a checkpoint record. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF. * **************************************************************** This is an enhancement to DB2 Administration Tool. A work list or change run by ADBTEP2 which ends prior to processing all statements in the input stream causes a checkpoint record to be placed into the ADBCHKPT table. This enhancement allows a different userid to resubmit the failing job.
