• The DB2 Administration Tool Work Statement List ( WSL ) function
  can run entire set of operations including CHECK utilities and
  REBIND. As a result users may experience DB2 deadlock contention

  The WSL job output may show:

  *                      status.   This  query may compete for   *
  *                      locks with  other workloads,   in the   *
  *                      particular BINDs or REBINDs, that may   *
  *                      result in deadlock contention.          *

  When running the Batch Restart function (ADBTEP2) with the
  CHECKBEGIN and CHECKEND constructs,  a user may experience
  DB2 deadlock contention

Problem conclusion

• The  query to locate table spaces in check-pending  status has
  been refined to locate table spaces in checking-pending status
  only  for objects related to  the original  objects upon which
  CHECK DATA was  performed within the  CHECKBEGIN a nd CHECKEND
  scope.   This may lead to  fewer lock requests against the DB2
  catalog which may avoid the deadlock condition.
