PK62474: ORF WHEN RECON SHARED BETWEEN TWO LPARS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• This APAR will address two problems:
  1) When trying to access the RECON ORF waits on reading
  a recon record.  The wait is a result from a RESERVE to the
  recon volume from another LPAR.
  The RESERVE was not translated to a global enq.  Customer
  is not using GRS-STAR, but a product called MIM (from CA),
  which acts like GRS-RING.
  2) Invalid continuation used for DBRC KEYSTRNG parameter
    (detected in HCMA)

  This APAR corrects the following problems:
  1.ORF goes into unconditional wait. When trying to access the
  RECON, ORF waits on reading a recon record. The wait is a
  result from a RESERVE to the recon volume from another LPAR.
  The RESERVE was not translated to a global enq.  Customer
  is not using GRS-STAR, but a product called MIM (from CA),
  which acts like GRS-RING.
  2.Invalid continuation used for DBRC KEYSTRNG parameter
  (detected in HCMA). When large key strings are used, DBRC
  statements must be continued. A "+" was used, but a "-"
  should be used.
  

Problem conclusion

• The following has been changed to correct the above problems:
  1.The DBRC code has been changed to include the DBRC ENQ
  and RESERVE.
  2.The continuation parameter has been changed to "-"
