Error description
In Rational Application Developer V7.0.0.4, after importing the Portlet Project as WAR in a new fresh workspace, the Portlet Dep loyment Descriptor(PDD) in the project explorer view is visible. However after enabling the 'Portal Development' capability, the PDD is not visible anymore. To see PDD, you have to restart the IDE or close all perspective s then reopen the web perspective.
Local fix
Problem summary
Creating a Portlet project, exporting it as a war file and reimporting the same war, would result in Portlet Project not showing the PDD node.
Problem conclusion
Incorrect check resulted in Portlet facets not getting installed. Once this is corrected, the Portlet facets get installed and the PDD node shows up. Fixed in Rational Application Developer V7.5
