Error description

  • The abend occurs on the CLC instruction at offset +x'1624' of
module FRXRLRA0 which is at PK45811 level.

This is the instruction "CLC LCL_DBD(8),RWCR_DBD_NAME(@07)"
and we are trying to compare the DBD name PLA2P0HT pointed by
R13 with the one in the RWCR pointed by R7. Our R7 at time of
abend contains x'780' which is the result of a previous sum with
    R3 being x'780' and a zeroed R4.

A prior sort had failed with returncode=18 (RC=18) as reported
    by message

    FRD0001I FRXI0003 FRD3001I UNEXPECTED RETURN CODE FROM
    SORT, RC=18

in the job sysout. DRF overwrote the bad sort return code 18
with a return code 0 from a diagnostic call, so continued
processing until an unpredictable result occurred, in this case
    an ABENDS0C4.

Problem conclusion

  • DRF logic was changed to restore sort return codes to their
correct value, so the correct error processing path could be
    taken.
