APAR status

Error description

  • The DB2 Administration Tool will go into a loop/wait state if
customers issue the command 'panel ADB2GEN' from panel ADB21
then press entry when panel ADB2GEN appears.

Local fix

  • Do not issue the 'panel ADB2GEN' command

Problem summary

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Command PANEL ADB2GEN + ENTER results   *
*                      in hang.                                *

* RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF.                               *

Unexpected results  occur when user  invokes panel ADB2GEN out
of context; i.e, through the PANEL command. The reason is that
necessary initialization for ADB2GEN panel was not performed.

Problem conclusion

  • If  the  command is  used to  invoke a panel  that expects  some
set-up to occur before invocation, unexpected results may occur.
A doc  change will  clarify when  the PANEL command can be used.
Also, error message ADB357E will be issued from ADB2GEN upon the
detection of an invalid caller.
