Error description

  • On IMS PA panel IPISDRCV ( IMS Subsystem Definition ), when
filling in the 'RESLIB Data Set' field with an IMS V10 RESLIB,
the dataset 'IMS Version (VRM)' changes to ' 010 ', however when
trying to save the screen, 'Invalid IMS version' is displayed.

Additional Symptom: If one changes the VRM on the main (Systems
Definitions) panel to 101, it accepts it. Then when going to
the next panel (IPISDSYG) to Edit a subsystem it allows
changing of the VRM field to 101, but when PF3 is entered to
save the change, message "Invalid IMS Version" is displayed.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: On panel IPISDRCV, when 'RESLIB Data *
    * Set' is filled with V10 reslib dataset *
    * 'IMS Version (VRM)' changes to '010'. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
IMS PA reads DFSVC000 to check the IMS VRM whenever the RESLIB
specification is changed on IPISDRCV and uses the last 3 digits
of the returned value to update the (VRM) field

Problem conclusion

  • Correctly evaluate the (4 digit) VRM field in DFSVC000 to
determine if the IMS version is V10+, if so use the first 3
digits, else use the last 3 digits
