Error description
Fix errors in the DB2 V9 premigration job DSNTIJPM that is shipped with DB2 V9. Also provide V9 premigration job DSNTIJP9 that is shipped with DB2 V8. These jobs provide a convenient way for current DB2 for z/OS V8 customers to run health checks in preparation for migration to DB2 V9.1 for z/OS. DB2MIGV9/K

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: DB2 UDB for z/OS Version 8 System * * Administrators are affected by this * * change. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The DB2 V9 premigration checkout job, * * DSNTIJPM, incorrectly checks for the * * V9 sample database (DSN8D91A) instead * * of the V8 sample database (DSN8D81A). * * Also it is missing a report of user- * * created indexes that reside on DB2- * * managed storage and that are defined on * * DB2 catalog tables in table spaces that * * will be converted during V9 enabling- * * new-function tion mode (ENFM). * * ------------------------------------- * * DB2 V8 does not provide a premigration * * checkout job for DB2 V9. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Each release of DB2 since Version 6 provides a job called DSNTIJPM that can be run on the prior release to help identify conditions that can impede migration to the new release. DB2 Version 7 provides a job called DSNTIJP8 that is equivalent to the DSNTIJPM job provided with DB2 Version 8, and thus permits current V7 customers to begin preparing DB2 for migration to V8, in advance of buying and SMP/E-installing V8. . Currently, the DSNTIJPM job shipped with DB2 Version 9 has two bugs: (1) It does not correctly test for existence of the DB2 V8 sample database, DSN8D81A. This database is useful for ver- ifying migration to DB2 V9 compatibility mode. If DSN8D81A is not found, you are recommended to recreate it before commencing migration to DB2 V9. Currently, the query for this check contains a typographical error that causes it to check for the DB2 V9 sample database instead of the DB2 V8 sample database. (2) It does not report user-created indexes that reside on DB2- managed storage and that are defined on DB2 catalog tables in table spaces that will be converted during V9 enabling- new-function mode (ENFM). . In addition, DB2 V8 does not currently provide a job that is equivalent to the DB2 V9 DSNTIJPM. Such a job needs to be added so that current DB2 V8 customers can begin preparing DB2 for migration to V9, in advance of buying and SMP/E-installing V9. .
Problem conclusion
In response, this APAR makes the following changes: (1) It corrects the DSNTIJPM job shipped with DB2 V9 to check for the V8 sample database instead of the V9 sample database. It also adds a query and report to this job for identifying user-created indexes that reside on DB2-managed storage and that are defined on DB2 catalog tables in table spaces that will be converted during V9 enabling-new-func- tion mode (ENFM). (2) To ensure that current DB2 V8 customers have adequate time to prepare for V9 migration before actually buying V9, the V9 DSNTIJPM job is now shipped as part of V8. In order not to overlay the current V8 DSNTIJPM job, the new job is named DSNTIJP9. Run DSNTIJP9 as soon as possible on your DB2 Version 8 system in order to evaluate it for readiness for migration to DB2 Version 9. (3) The DB2 V8 installation CLIST is modified to edit and cus- tomize DSNTIJP9. However, the DSNTIJP9 job prolog contains directions for manual customization if you apply this PTF after you have run the DB2 V8 installation CLIST.
