Error description

  • Reviewing the following documentation from the Information Cente
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wasinfo/v6r0/index.jsp?
    topic=/com.ibm.websphere.nd.doc/info/ae/ae/twbs_securev6wss.html
The client can be mislead. The ibm-webservices-bnd.xmi is
required by the web service engine to work.
The ibm-webservices-bnd.xmi contains such properties as
wsDescNameLink, pc-name-link, and scope, which are links to
information in webservices.xml--i.e., information that is not
related to ws-security.rvices.xml--i.e., information that is not
The 6.0.x InfoCenter article "ibm-webservices-bnd.xmi assemply
properties" goes on to say, "This file contains information for
the Web services run time that is either WebSphere
product-specific or was not specified by the Web Services for
Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) specification."
So while it's not required by any spec, WebSphere requires it.
We do not support applications that do not package the necessary
    web services deployment descriptors: webservices.xml,
    ibm-webservices-ext.xmi, ibm-webservices-bnd.xmi,
    webservicesclient.xml, ibm-webservicesclient-ext.xmi,
    ibm-webservicesclient-bnd.xmi, mapping
    files, etc.

The information center topic twbs_securev6wss can be misleading.
The ibm-webservices-bnd.xmi is required by the web service
engine to work. The ibm-webservices-bnd.xmi contains such
properties as wsDescNameLink, pc-name-link, and scope, which
are links to information in webservices.xml--i.e., information
that is not related to ws-security.rvices.xml.

The topic "ibm-webservices-bnd.xmi assemply properties" says
that "This file contains information for the Web services run
time that is either WebSphere product-specific or was not
specified by the Web Services for Java 2 Platform, Enterprise
Edition (J2EE) specification." So while it is not required by
any specification, WebSphere requires it. We do not support
applications that do not package the necessary Web services
    deployment descriptors:
    webservices.xml,
    ibm-webservices-ext.xmi,
    ibm-webservices-bnd.xmi,
    webservicesclient.xml,
    ibm-webservicesclient-ext.xmi,
    ibm-webservicesclient-bnd.xmi, mapping
    files, and so forth.

Problem conclusion

  • Changed the text in rwbs_assembprop.html as
    follows:

The ibm-webservices-bnd.xmi file is a deployment descriptor
for a Web services-enabled Web module or an enterprise
JavaBeans (EJB) module. This file contains information for
the Web services run time that is required by WebSphere
    Application Server.
