Error description
This APAR adds support for EXPORT and IMPORT of unqualified data set names when using an 8 character user id or 8 character TSO PROFILE PREFIX. Also added is support for proper recording of an 8 character TSO user id within the QMF trace data set DSQDEBUG. Until this fix is applied, users with an 8 character user id, may see DSQ22114 or DSQ23146 'Your data set name contains invalid characters.' when using the EXPORT or IMPORT commands with unqualified data set names. Reference to string '>7BYTES' will also be seen. QMF trace records showing USERID: will be shortened to 7 characters such as the following: ---------- ****** 18/06/13 13.19.17 ****** ---------------- QMFV12R1.0 was started in subsystem QC1C(DSN12015). Currently connected location: RS25QC1C (DSN12015). USERID: TS5519L AUTHORIZATION-ID: TS5519L8 MESSAGE NUMBER: DSQ22114 MESSAGE TEXT: Your data set name contains invalid characters. &C1: '>7BYTES.MYQUERY.QUERY' ---------------------------------------------------------------- -- Support for 8 character TSO user ids was added in z/OS 2.3.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All QMF for TSO/CICS V11.1, V11.2 and V12.1 * * users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When invoking QMF from a TSO user id * * that is 8 characters long, using EXPORT * * or IMPORT to a non qualified data set * * name may result in DSQ22114 or DSQ23146 * * 'Your data set name contains invalid * * characters.' A string containing * * '>7BYTES' will be seen for the high * * level qualifier of the data set. Within * * the QMF trace data DSQDEBUG, the USERID * * will be truncated at 7 characters. * * USers running with DSQSPRID=TSOID may * * notice the wrong Q.PROFILES profile * * being used. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** z/OS 2.3 adds support for 8 character TSO user ids. This APAR updates QMF trace, EXPORT and IMPORT for the support. Note that without this PTF, when started with an 8 character TSO user id, QMF will start and function successfully within the data base. QMF already has support for up to 128 character DB2 authorization ids.
