Error description

  • CICS TS 5.4
    In one of our set-ups to test with CICS TS (5.4)
    cloud-enabled applications, the following characteristics apply:
    .
      program PRO37 is defined as an entry point of application
    prDEF_Application, which is defined with another private library
    containing load module PRO19;
      program PRO38 is defined as an entry point of application
    prGHI_Application, which is defined without any
    private library;
      all programs PRO37 and PRO38 both perform an
      EXEC CICS START TRANSID(TR19);
    when PRO38 runs ans STARTs TRANID(TR19), program PRO19 is
    incorrectly loaded from the private library version instead
     of the PUBLIC library.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A wrong program may get driven in a *
    *                      multi-version program environment.      *
    ****************************************************************
    In a CLOUD enabled CICS platform, it is possible to have
    Multi-versioning of application programs. These are different
    versions of the same program name. It is also possible to have
    a program with the same name that does not have versions at all.
                                                                  .
    Usually, these 2 types of programs (VERSION'd and NON-VERSION'd)
    would be referenced internally by CICS on PRIVATE and PUBLIC
    PPTE chains respectively. However, a path exists in DFHPGPG
    where a VERSION'd copy of a program is driven when it was
    intended to drive the NON-VERSION'd copy. The opposite can also
    occur.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHPGPG has been amended to correct the aforementioned problem
    scenario.
