APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message ADB9929E is issued when an attempt to delete a
    change fails. For example:

ADB9929E Change >owner.name< was not deleted.
              Reason code is 4.

The reason code, however, is not documented. This APAR
modifies the message so that a meaningful explanation is given
instead of a reason code. Also, in the case where the reason
for the failure is a lack of privileges, the message explains
(similar to message ADBC101E) that the failure is due to the
definition of the delete change view (ADBCHGV1).

CM batch job to delete a change fails and issues message
ADB9929E that gives a number for the reason which is listed
in the message documentation but the message is not documented
    the user's guide.

Problem conclusion

  • The following message will display the reason instead
    of a number:

    ADB9929E
Change "change_owner.change_name" was not deleted. Reason
Explanation: The specified change was not deleted for
     the specified reason.
There are 5 possible reasons put in this message:

    1. You do not have the authority to run delete
       change command.
    2. Delete change command is not enabled.
    3. Change does not satisfy the delete criteria.
    4. User does not have the privilege to delete
change according to the definition of the
       delete change view (ADBCHGV1).
    5. The delete change function was not successful due to an
       unexpected error condition.
Programmer response: Check the reason, fix the problem,
    run again.
    System action: Processing stops.
